The Ministry of Education has announced that steps will be taken to reopen schools immediately after receiving the approval of the Ministry of Health.
A special team of experts is continuing to investigate the matter.
Professor Kapila Perera, secretary of the Ministry of Education, said the focus would be on reopening schools with the highest level of health protection for students in mind.
