The Vice Chancellors will be empowered to start universities on any day subject to health guidelines, said the Chairman of the University Grants Commission.

The Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Senior Professor Sampath Amaratunga stated that the power to decide the relevant date has been vested in the Vice Chancellors of each university.

Under the first phase, only students who have been fully vaccinated for 2 weeks are allowed to enter universities.

It has also been suggested that only 25 percent of the students should participate in academic activities first.
