ONLINE APTITUDE ASSESSMENT FOR THE SELECTION OF CANDIDATES FOR THE BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN INFORMATION SYSTEMS DEGREE PROGRAMME FOR THE INTAKE 2020/2021
Applications are hereby invited for the Online Aptitude Assessment from candidates who have sat for the G.C.E. (A/L) examinations in 2020 and possess the requirements for University admission as specified under section 1.2 and section 2.2.8.26 of the Handbook on “Admission to the Undergraduate Courses of the Universities in Sri Lanka – Intake 2020/2021” issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
It is a pre-requisite to pass the Online Aptitude Assessment to be eligible for the above programme of study. Hence, the candidates who have submitted their applications for University Admissions of the University Grants Commission for the intake 2020/2021, indicating their preference to be considered for the above programme of study, are required to apply and sit for the Online Aptitude Assessment, which will be conducted by the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC).
Please note that the Aptitude Assessment will be held only in English medium and it will be conducted in the online mode considering the current pandemic situation in the country.

Conditions of Online Aptitude Assessment:
- Applications for online aptitude assessment will be rejected if the applicants do not possess the minimum admission requirements or the applications are partially completed. Those applicants will not be notified and the payment will not be refunded.
- Iff the applicant has not applied for the Information Systems degree programme through the UGC, the relevant application for online aptitude assessment will be rejected. Those applicants will not be notified and the payment will not be refunded.
- UCSC will conduct the Aptitude Assessment in online mode and it will be strictly monitored according to the examination rules.
- An applicant requires a computer with a webcam, microphone and an Internet connection to take the online assessment (Recommended Minimum Specification is given below). Each applicant is supposed to verify his/her facilities by doing a trial test at https://yellow.ucsc.cmb.ac.lk/. The user name and password for the trial test are given below. The number of attempts have not been limited for the trial test. Applicants are requested to indicate in the application form whether they could complete the trial test successfully. - All applicants are required to sit for an online mock assessment before the formal Aptitude Assessment. Details of the mock assessment will be informed to registered candidates in due course.
- The formal assessment will be conducted in two phases, and only the students who perform well in the first phase will qualify for the second phase of the assessment.
- Detail instructions, including rules of assessment and assessment time schedule, will be informed to the registered email address of the candidate. Applicants who violate the rules and conditions of online assessment will fail in the examination process irrespective of their performance in the assessment.
Procedure for Submission of Applications:
Please note that the following procedure has been proposed considering the pandemic situation in the country and your cooperation is requested to follow it.
- All the candidates should complete the online application form available at the official website of the UCSC http://www.ucsc.cmb.ac.lk/isreg. Please note that application forms prepared manually or using a template will not be accepted under any circumstances.
- Each applicant should pay a fee of Rs. 1,500/= for the Aptitude Assessment through an online mode using a credit/debit card according to the instructions available in the application form. No Cash payments at UCSC will be accepted due to the pandemic situation.
- The completed application form can be downloaded as a PDF document. The applicant should print this form and place the signature at the relevant places in the application.
- The scanned version of the signed application form should be sent to the email address:
sarexam@ucsc.cmb.ac.lk. The original copy should be sent by Registered Post to the Deputy Registrar/Examinations & Registration, University of Colombo School of Computing, No. 35, Reid Avenue, Colombo 7 on or before 20th July 2021. The applicants should indicate the title “IS – Online Aptitude Assessments 2020/2021” on the upper left corner of the envelope. No
applications will be accepted by hand under any circumstances
Notes:
(i) Recommended Minimum Specification – A Laptop Computer with I3 processor, 2GB Memory, a Webcam camera, a microphone, Windows 8 operating system and Firefox web browser. However, applicants are not restricted to this specification, and they have the freedom to use any other device which can fulfill the requirement of the online assessment. Therefore, applicants are advised to test their devices using the trial test available at https://yellow.ucsc.cmb.ac.lk/ before applying for the IS Aptitude Assessment.
(ii) 100 Applicants can take the trial test at a time. When you open the site at https://yellow.ucsc.cmb.ac.lk/ a list of online users is displayed. Usernames to login to the trial test will be applicant001, applicant002, ….applicant099, applicant100. The password is i$Uc$c2021, and it is common for all accounts. Applicants are requested to select usernames that are not online at the time.
(iii)Applicants could read and post questions at https://padlet.com/sarexam/faq before they send their inquiries to sarexam@ucsc.cmb.ac.lk.
(iv) The list of eligible candidates will be sent to the UGC and will be published on the UCSC website (www.ucsc.cmb.ac.lk).
(v) Passing the Aptitude Assessment alone will not entitle the candidate for admission to the Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Degree Programme. The final decision will be made by the UGC based on the z-score and other conditions.
